The second edition of the CSIC Outreach and Citizen Science Awards has recognised six initiatives promoted by CSIC staff with the aim of bringing science closer to society. The jury, made up of specialists in dissemination, research and education who work inside and outside the CSIC, awarded a first prize and a runner-up in each category: Single Work, Dissemination Project and Citizen Science Project. It also highlighted the high quality and diversity of the 106 works submitted.
In the category of Outreach Project, the educational programme ‘Scientists in practice’ has received the first prize of 3,000 euros for its ability to involve multiple research groups from different scientific areas, for giving students from disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity to come into contact with research and for the quality of the evaluation of the initiative. The project is promoted by the Institute of Philosophy of the Centre for Human and Social Sciences (CCHS-CSIC) in collaboration with the Spanish Association for the Advancement of Science and in which the Elastomers Group has collaborated since its inception.
