Title

Synthesis of thermoplastic polyurethanes based on new macroglycols obtained from PET waste

Summary

In this project we are going to study the applications of polyurathane in the energy sector and their previous synthesis from polyols of recycled PET, applying the concept of circular economy.
First of all, we will obtain new raw materials, the polyols, in the recycling process of PET.
After the synthesis in the proper conditions, we will characterize the new product with different techniques, such as thermal analysis (TGA, DSC), composition analysis (NMR, ATR, Raman), mechanical properties measurements, etc. Then we will synthesis the polyurethane using polyol and isocyanate, with the following charaterization. Secondly, we will study one of the polyurethane applications in the energetic sector, using the polyurethane in the lithium batteries as an alternative way to store energy.
